For the concept of Boost3D to work, geometrical precision is the key. Considering that each node is highly bespoke in the geometry, and each structure could have a large number of these nodes, a tailored computational design toolkit was developed. PrecisionNode is an open-source plugin intended to function in the Rhino-Grasshopper ecosystem.
PrecisionNode provides a series of tools that generate necessary data and geometrical information for digital fabrication and also establish a link to existing structural design tools such as CEM and Karamba3D forming a holistic design workflow.
To test the functionality of PrecisionNode and validate the proposed workflow, canopy with a branching structure called TREE Canopy has been brought to life.
